In March of 2006 the Ah-Q Jazz Arkestra went into the studio, a converted theatre classroom on the outskirts of Beijing. In three live sessions the band laid down 18 tracks, nine vocal and nine instrumental. The double CD features a wide range of styles and playing in the jazz genre, including a blazing vocal remake of My Favorite Things, a funk adaptation of the Ornette Coleman classic Old Gospel, and nine instrumental originals written by Dave Beckstead, Liu Xiaoguang and Matt Roberts.
